There are a few primary builds of Crusaders:
+
{| class="wikitable sortable"
* Grand Cross, which deals Holy magic damage to the enemy.

* Sacrifice, which allows the crusader to take damage in place of an ally.

* Shield, which deals ranged damage from afar.

* Spear, which deals rapid melee damage at close range.

Grand Cross, which is often abbreviated GC, is a skill that relies on both the Crusader's ATK and MATK to deal damamge to the enemy.

Just as Grand Cross relies both on ATK and MATK to deal damage, the damage from the ATK portion is reduced by the enemy's DEF, while the MATK portion is reduced by the enemy's MDEF.

* Strength is important due to the fact that it adds damage to the skill and also increases carrying capacity. Strength gives a noticably smaller bonus to GC damage than Intelligence however.

* Vitality is important due to the fact that GC Crusaders tend to mob enemies to level, however the HP casting cost of Grand Cross increases as max HP increases.

* Intelligence is very important for a Grand Cross Crusader, and many players get 9x base intelligence, many even maxing it. There are a number of reasons for this:

** It is the primary source of damage output

** It provides needed SP Regeneration

** It increases the effectiveness of Heal

** It increases the effectiveness of SP Recovery Items

* Dexterity is important to a Grand Cross Crusader because it controls the speed of the cast. Most GC Saders will balance both this and their strength after finishing their Intelligence. It is not uncommon for a player to have a build that is very high in both Intelligence and Dexterity, and have little points allocated elsewhere.

This will cause you to end up with 5 skill points remaining. Thoe skill points can be allocated into a higher level of guard if you find yourself needing to tank things or you like the skill, or you can max out Smite in order to stun people in WoE, and place the remaining points in either Guard or Cure.

For a crusader that will level using a Soul-Link and Shield Boomerang, it may be possible to forgo getting dexterity in favor of more agility or vitality, as Shield Boomerang never misses when under the influence of a Soul-Link.

Magnum Break is used as an AoE skill in WoE and PvP in conjunction with a weapon such as Sword Breaker or Mail Breaker to spread status or to knock people out of Cloak. It is not generally used for damage purposes.

In order to gain the best DPS with a Soul-Link, 182 attack speed is the ideal. This has to do with the animation delay of the skill. Nothing more than 182 attack speed will help when using Linked Shield Boomerang.

This build is generally reliant on parties for leveling, as they typically have low strength and intelligence. This is not a soloing character, however it is probably the most useful of all of the crusader builds for WoE. It utilizes high vitality and high dexterity to quickly cast Sacrifice on any characters that would make good use of more HP or an uninterruptable cast time.

*  Cavalier Mastery 5

Some builds will occasionally forsake the PecoPeco Riding and Holy Cross skills in order to get a high level of Heal.

This build emphasizes doing powerful normal attacks at a rapid rate. Leveling spots include places such as Byalan Island and Ice Dungeon, as well as any map that standard melee characters level at. The class plays similar to the more familiar Agility Knight.

Grand Cross
 +
Focuses on the use of Grand Cross to kill mobs of enemies. The build uses the effects of HP leech to return the health lost when casting Grand Cross, and the damage from the monsters that you lure. This means that the build doesn't require Heal to function properly. This is not a beginner friendly build as it requires expensive key items to make the build work efficiently.
 +

 +
Stats
 +
STR: 1-30
 +

 +
AGI: 1
 +

 +
VIT: 40-70
 +

 +
INT: 90+
 +

 +
DEX: 40-70
 +

 +
LUK: 1
 +

 +
Increase INT as high as you can to do enough damage to efficiently kill the mobs that you're farming. STR is optional so you can go with or without and is up to you. VIT and DEX is a balance of surviving to mob enough monsters to kill with Grand Cross, but cast it fast enough to leech your HP back before your HP reaches 0.
 +

 +
Key skills
 +
Max Grand Cross and Autoguard. Everything else is optional and up to you. Commonly, Grand Cross builds skip Heal as you'll have your health leeched back and HP consumables such as Fish can be used while casting Grand Cross.
 +

 +
Key items
 +
These items is what makes Grand Cross work effectively:
 +
* Solar Sword from Pharaoh (MVP)
 +
* Rideword Hat from Main Office
 +
* Incubus / Succubus pet tamed with Girl's Naivety or Boy's Pure Heart
 +

 +
The effects of Solar Sword causes you to have 100% chance to leech 1% of damage as HP. Because these effects stack additively, this means that all HP leech effects have 100% chance to occur when you have multiple sources of leech, so you're focusing on getting enough leech to survive. As an example, Rideword Hat has a 5% chance to leech HP, and 1% chance to leech SP. When equipping Solar Sword it changes it to 105% chance to leech HP and 1% chance to leech SP.
 +

 +
Optional items
 +
* Bathory or Agiope Card
 +
* Thara Frog Card
 +
* Platinum Shield
 +

 +
Armor cards are used to farm undead or demon mobs and taking less damage, allowing Grand Cross to deal damage to recover health before your HP reaches 0. Thara Frog card is used to reduce the self-damage portion of Grand Cross. Keep in mind that Grand Cross requires 20% of your HP to cast which cannot be reduced in any way. Platinum Shield makes you highly resistant to damage.
 +

 +
Core playstyle
 +
Have Endure active, then go around mobbing enemies while mounted. Use the Fish consumable to recover HP if needed, which is buyable from tool dealers that show up as a potion icon on your map. Enable Auto Guard then cast Grand Cross to kill them all. Due to your leech effects you'll recover all or most of your HP so you can keep casting it if the monsters haven't been killed yet. It's essential to survive long enough for Grand Cross to deal damage to recover HP. Disable Auto-guard, mob again and repeat.
 +

 +
Something to keep in mind is that while auto-guarding, Grand Cross will not tick damage. This means that you'll reduce the amount of damage you deal while auto-guarding. Sometimes it might be more effective to simply not have Auto-guard active for more consistent damage.

Overview

Crusader.jpg

Crusaders are a fine blend of physical strength and faith-driven magic prowess, making them a versatile class. They are capable of melee combat with a spear or a sword and shield, of playing a supportive role in parties with beneficial magic skills, and of sacrificing their health to wield powerful holy magic.

Jobchange Guide

See Crusader Job Change Guide for detailed information.

Changing into a Crusader from a Swordman requires the player to complete a number of tasks:

 • Item Collection
 • Endurance Test

Sample Builds

Grand Cross

Focuses on the use of Grand Cross to kill mobs of enemies. The build uses the effects of HP leech to return the health lost when casting Grand Cross, and the damage from the monsters that you lure. This means that the build doesn't require Heal to function properly. This is not a beginner friendly build as it requires expensive key items to make the build work efficiently.

Stats

STR: 1-30

AGI: 1

VIT: 40-70

INT: 90+

DEX: 40-70

LUK: 1

Increase INT as high as you can to do enough damage to efficiently kill the mobs that you're farming. STR is optional so you can go with or without and is up to you. VIT and DEX is a balance of surviving to mob enough monsters to kill with Grand Cross, but cast it fast enough to leech your HP back before your HP reaches 0.

Key skills

Max Grand Cross and Autoguard. Everything else is optional and up to you. Commonly, Grand Cross builds skip Heal as you'll have your health leeched back and HP consumables such as Fish can be used while casting Grand Cross.

Key items

These items is what makes Grand Cross work effectively:

 • Solar Sword from Pharaoh (MVP)
 • Rideword Hat from Main Office
 • Incubus / Succubus pet tamed with Girl's Naivety or Boy's Pure Heart

The effects of Solar Sword causes you to have 100% chance to leech 1% of damage as HP. Because these effects stack additively, this means that all HP leech effects have 100% chance to occur when you have multiple sources of leech, so you're focusing on getting enough leech to survive. As an example, Rideword Hat has a 5% chance to leech HP, and 1% chance to leech SP. When equipping Solar Sword it changes it to 105% chance to leech HP and 1% chance to leech SP.

Optional items

 • Bathory or Agiope Card
 • Thara Frog Card
 • Platinum Shield

Armor cards are used to farm undead or demon mobs and taking less damage, allowing Grand Cross to deal damage to recover health before your HP reaches 0. Thara Frog card is used to reduce the self-damage portion of Grand Cross. Keep in mind that Grand Cross requires 20% of your HP to cast which cannot be reduced in any way. Platinum Shield makes you highly resistant to damage.

Core playstyle

Have Endure active, then go around mobbing enemies while mounted. Use the Fish consumable to recover HP if needed, which is buyable from tool dealers that show up as a potion icon on your map. Enable Auto Guard then cast Grand Cross to kill them all. Due to your leech effects you'll recover all or most of your HP so you can keep casting it if the monsters haven't been killed yet. It's essential to survive long enough for Grand Cross to deal damage to recover HP. Disable Auto-guard, mob again and repeat.

Something to keep in mind is that while auto-guarding, Grand Cross will not tick damage. This means that you'll reduce the amount of damage you deal while auto-guarding. Sometimes it might be more effective to simply not have Auto-guard active for more consistent damage.
