Archers are experts at long-range combat with Bows and Arrows. Their range gives them several advantages, which include:
Archers can increase their focus and concentration, usually wielding a bow and arrow, to hunt monsters. Though they prefer sniping monsters from far away, their understanding of the natural forces make them great companions at close quarters during the heat of battle. Growing up surrounded by the luscious trees in Payon, they seek to further enhance their knowledge of the natural forces.

Archers excel in using a bow and elemental arrows that deal even more damage to monsters based on the arrow's element and monster's element.
+
* The ability to change the element of their weapon quickly by changing their arrow type. This makes Archers able to exploit elemental advantages easily.
 +
* Accuracy and damage are increased by the same stat (DEX), allowing all attacks to connect and deal a lot damage.
 +
* Range enables archers to defeat stationary or slow-moving opponents that are stronger than they are without being hit.

Job Changing
Drawbacks of the Archer class include:

#Once you are Job Level 10, go to the Archer Guild in northeast Payon Payon.<br>
+
*Low VIT limits their ability to survive when they are caught up in melee situations.
#Talk to the Archer Guildsman who changes your job to Archer and rewards you with a Novice Composite Bow [3], and one Fire, Silver, and Normal Arrow Quivers.
+
*Require Arrows for every attack with a Bow. Running out of arrows in a firefight can make an Archer useless.

*Alternatively, after reaching Job Level 10, go to an Archer class at Criatura Academy located at Izlude .

a. GAMEPLAY:<br>
+
*STR: The only normal reason to up STR on an Archer is to extend the Weight Limit, allowing for more Potions and Arrows to be carried. Archers should leave this at 1, unless a Beast Strafing build is planned.
This build takes advantage of the archer's ability to kill monsters from afar and using bow and arrows. This build takes advantage of using specific elemental arrows to kill monsters weak to a specific element. Since many low level monsters are weak to fire, this build may only use Fire Arrows to be effective.<br>

b. STATS:<br>
+
*AGI: Archers aspiring to be PvM Bards or Dancers, or who will become Hunters will find AGI to be near as or more important than DEX. AGI increases ASPD, allowing the Archer to attack more often (and before the enemy can close into melee range) and deal more damage over time. It also enables Archers to Flee an adversary and more easily evade their attacks.
Base level 40 base status distribution suggestion. You may allocate certain status points depending on your preference but the idea is to focus on increasing DEX to increase your ATK and HIT. Some stat points are put in INT for higher SP pool.

*STR: 1 <br>

*AGI: 1 <br>

*VIT: 1 <br>

*INT: 30 <br>

*DEX: 53 <br>

*LUK: 1 <br><br>

General Leveling Strategy
+
*VIT is reasonable for players who wish to PvP or take part in the War of Emperium. Pure PvM builds do not often invest in VIT.
Below are three ideas for efficient leveling strategy:

#Follow the Enchanter Mounds Quest guide. This will allow you to enchant a that you get the moment you created your Novice character with Max HP+100, Max SP+50. You will be talking to Almond J in Izlude  Izlude. Card this equipment with cards that increase HP and/or SP such as or .<br>

#Using , you can level as soon as base level 3-56 in Sunken Ship. Talk to Fisk Alberta and pay 250z to go to the . As an archer, you will be using Arrow Shower.

#Without using , using the Geffen Bounty Board Quests kill until level 21(they drop sticky webfeet that you can sell to players or turn in for the level 56-71 Eden Group Leveling Quests) , then using the Payon Bounty Board Quests kill until level 41. Then, using the Eden Group Leveling Quests and Geffen Bounty Board Quests, kill , , and until level 60. <BR>You can accept multiple quests at one time, however when turning in do note that you cannot gain more than 1 full level from a single quest, so do try to turn the quests in when you have a low exp percentage or after you've job changed if you're job level 49.

Stat Descriptions
+
*INT is usually only for those who will become Bards or Dancers. INT allows constant Double Strafe spamming and increases the efficacy of a Bard's Magic Strings (alt Poem of Bragi) and Dancer's Gypsy's Kiss (alt Service for You). It contributes to a Hunter's Falcon damage by increasing ATK, but Falconer builds should prioritize INT after AGI and DEX.
It is vital that you understand how each status affects your character to play the game well. Below is a summary but go to the Primary Stats page for detailed information. <br>

*STR - increases ATK of melee weapons, increases Weight Limit, and slightly increases ATK of "ranged-type" weapons.<br>

*AGI - increases Flee, ASPD, and provides resistance to Bleeding and Sleep status effects.<br>

*VIT - increases Max HP, effectiveness of Healing potions, and resistance to Stun, Poison, Deadly Poison, Burning, and Freezing status effects.<br>

*INT - increases MATK, Max SP, SP Recovery, and effectiveness of SP potions, decreases Variable Cast Time (VCT), provides resistance to Blind, Silence, and Chaos status effects.<br>

*DEX - decreases Variable Cast Time (VCT), increases HIT, MATK, ATK of "ranged-type" weapons, and slightly increases ATK of "melee-type" weapons.

*LUK - increases ATK, MATK, CRIT, HIT, Flee, Perfect Dodge, Forging, Potion Creation, Cooking, and provides resistance to Blind, Curse, Frozen, Poison, Silence, Sleep, Stone Curse, and Stun.

Melee Weapons - (Axes, Books, Daggers, Katars, Knuckles, Maces, and Spears)<br>
+
*DEX: As an Archer, the most important stat will be DEX. It minimally increases ASPD, reduces cast time, increases HIT, and greatly improves bow damage.
Ranged Weapons - (Bows, Guns, Instruments, and Whips)

Overall Tips and Suggestions
+
*LUK is useful if the Archer intends to change into a Hunter or as a critical support Dancer as it increases the efficacy of Lady Luck (alt Fortune's Kiss). LUK increases Falcon attack rate. These stats should also not be invested for Falconry until the player is a level 75+ Hunter.
#Your next class is either a Hunter or a Bard/Dancer; you may have to adjust your build accordingly.<br>

Jobchange Guide

Archer
Requirements
Base Level: None
Job Level: 10
Item(s) (Consumed): Varies
Rewards
Item(s): Bow, Arrows
Quest Reward(s): Jobchange to Archer

1. Head to the Archer Guild pay_arche145164 in the Archer Village north of Payon.

2. Talk to the Archer Guildsman payon_in026471. You will be told to collect different types of Trunks for a minimum of 25 points. There are 4 types of Trunks:

Trunk Type Point Value
Trunk 1 Point
Barren Trunk 2 Points
Solid Trunk 3 Points
Fine-grained Trunk 5 Points
 • Note: Trunks can be obtained by the monster Willow, found near Payon on some maps (a good start is one east of Payon). Beware of Elder Willows, as they look similar but are strong at this point. Time can be saved by leveling off of Willow from 10/8 to 12/10 or so because the Trunks are needed anyway.

3. After enough Trunks are brought back, the player will have their job changed to an Archer.

Builds

See Hunter Builds, Dancer Builds or Bard Builds for build strategies.

Stats

 • STR: The only normal reason to up STR on an Archer is to extend the Weight Limit, allowing for more Potions and Arrows to be carried. Archers should leave this at 1, unless a Beast Strafing build is planned.

It also enables Archers to Flee an adversary and more easily evade their attacks.
 • VIT is reasonable for players who wish to PvP or take part in the War of Emperium. Pure PvM builds do not often invest in VIT.
 • DEX: As an Archer, the most important stat will be DEX. It minimally increases ASPD, reduces cast time, increases HIT, and greatly improves bow damage.
