Hey guys, been a very long time since we've done a maintenance and patch update so we're catching up on a lot here tonight. Unfortunately some major stuff is still being worked on so not everything I wanted to be here will be here, but we'll get to that at the very end. For now, let's talk about what this patch will cover. Mostly its about some exciting new Spawn and EXP changes, some major bug fixes, and catching up on our costume boxes.

Bye Halloween, Hello Winter!

The Halloween event ends with this update and that means no more access to purchasing Scatleton Pet, Halloween Freebie costumes, and Bat Cookies. Bat Cookies, Yummy Meat, and Memory of Gyoll will continue to always drop in Niflheim Dungeon though! So you can stock up for next year or use them to evolve your scatleton pet into a skelion if you so wish. However, you wont be able to purchase Scatleton or any costume from the event since its over. Bat Cookies/Yummy Meat/Memory of Gyoll are one of the few event currencies that will be the same year in and year out, so running nif parties will net you a headstart next year on the event!

With Halloween event finally ending, comes the Winter and Christmas event. It's kinda bare bones this year with just the Prontera look change and updates to the new currency, but there comes a lot of costumes back that you can see in Costume Previews. There are color exchanges for many of the sets this year. All of our winter freebies from last year return as well!

For you new players, be sure to pick up your Black Knitted Hat with event currency as it drops Candy/Candy Cane at a decent rate while also increasing the healing effects of both! Free sustain, and its slotted and gives ok defense. It also gives a bit of HP and SP too.

Overall, there isn't much else to this event because I've simply ran out of time and had to take a break from the server otherwise. This means if you want event currency you'll need to do bountyquests mostly, but can also spam the memory game (which is instanced as well) in Jawaii if you really can't find parties. Silvervine Drops will still include event currency as a drop as well.

Spawn and EXP Changes

So now that the dust has settled and the server has boomed in population, the meta has kinda become "Dragon's Nest 3". Either jungle mandragoras with Star Gladiator or a standard pulling party for Charge Basilisks. I don't mind seeing DN3 be used and viable. Of course I want it to be, but it does feel like nowhere else is currently relevant enough. Rather than completely gut DN3, I decided it would be more fun to give it a small shaving off the top to bring it in line while also simultaneously buffing a lot of the under performing maps. To go along with this we're also going to be making quests more accessible, but more on that later in another section! Note that not all changes are oriented towards party play some are to address other issues such as low spawn rates of monsters, etc.

Niflheim Field 01

Tamruan: Job EXP raised slightly to not be completely nonexistent.

Moscovia Dungeon 03

Mavka: 15 Spawns > 20 (now instant)

Gold Acidus: 84k Base EXP > 67k EXP Base EXP (now instant respawn) (clone map option added at entrance so you don't have to fight over parties anymore)

Rachel Sanctuary

First floor now has a clone map option so you can grind away from other players if you want.

Magma Dungeon 02

You can now create a cloned version of the map for yourself and your party so you don't have to compete with others over the mobs.

Quest Skip Cost Reductions

So quest skips have been expensive for awhile, mostly due to zeny balance, but we are not remotely struggling with inflation and ARE struggling with map parity. As such, I feel making quest maps more "accessible" to new players will open up more party places as it doesnt feel heavily gated by the time to do the quest or the zeny required to skip it. Item barriers, zeny barriers, all just server to limit where a player can play. This is a trade off, but as a server owner I value the ability for players to group up more often at fun places above all else. I'm also adding in a few more skips for the sake of quality of life. Hoping to see more of you at bio 2 and 3 with the quest skip and previous buffs to bio 2, but we'll see!

Satan Morocc Quest Version

So Satan Morocc's quest version is ironically harder than the final version you face in the field. Unlike the Kiel quest where the quest version of kiel is easier, its backwards! I personally didn't mind this originally, but considering the mantra of this update is to make things more accessible, gating parties at Dimensional Gorge behind a super end game MVP like Satan Morroc is simply not worth it.

So we've removed a lot of his normal versions mechanics that make him painful, nameless earthquake/hell's power and made his HP/stats significantly easier/weaker. He will likely feel more like a potato compared to before, but this is intended as I want more people to have access to Dimensional Gorge.

New Command: @instancecd

This command will show you your cooldown of an instance you've run. Note that if its not on cooldown it wont bring up anything! You can either type @instancecd Endless Tower or @instancecd MVP (mobid)! This means if you wanted to see your instance CD of valkyrie randgris, which is mob id 1751....

You would type @instancecd MVP 1751

and then it will show you how much time is left without having to go to the NPC. We hope this helps save you time and plan your MVP and ET runs easier!

Quality of Life Adjustments

1.) Pet's now automatically go back into their egg if starving and no food is on player.

2.) Because of the above change, we can finally add @hidepet to @settings since you essentially cannot lose your pet due to starvation anymore.

3.) Performers can now use the Tap skill while using Marionette Control.

4.) Combo timing for monk/champion reverted to normal timing window. Combos can now be chained within a 1.5 second window regardless of if you triple attack repeatedly in a row or attack immediately after a combo skill.

5.) Warp Unlock added just outside Niflheim Dungeon.

6.) Item Captor kill count requirement lowered from 4000 kills to 3500.

MVP Instance EXP Changes

People have been spamming Ktullanux or the same MVP over and over in a chain to cheese mass amounts of experience since we buffed MVP experience here. As such, it has become one of the main ways to level with it being incredibly efficient when set up properly. This is not really the intention of the MVP instance system and Ktullanux's addition in general has caused some issues.

As such, MVP instances will now give 90% reduced EXP from all mobs, including the MVP whenever you have been part of a kill recently, even if you didn't pay to enter.

Bug Fixes/Reverts

1.) PVP Matchmaking Time limit extended to 5 minutes per round up from total match, and therapist is no longer able to be accessed once the rounds start.

2.) Performer Songs are now properly affected by hard CC like freeze, stun, etc.

3.) Adrenaline Rush/Full Adrenaline Rush aspd given to allies raised from 20% > 25%

4.) Arrow Crafting Table reverted to our buffed versions.

5.) Gan Ceann Card properly has its % shadow damage raised from 5 to 10.

6.) Death Witch map flags now properly set for the instance version, so no more tele, normal edp, star gladiator, etc.

7.) Magic Bible added back to Gajomart drops.

8.) Inn Buffs no longer stack with priest buffs and also properly override them.

9.) Snap skill re-enabled in PVP room.

10.) Adoption Skills no longer disappear when a baby character changes maps or logs out.

11.) Auto Steal gears from Rogue/Stalker properly roll random options again.

12.) Blitz Beat no longer breaks your own ankle snare.

13.) Guild Storage access issues with Cool Event Corp Staff fixed.

14.) Tarot Card of fate can no longer be used on test dummies. (again)

15.) Mapflags reverted to previous behavior. Should be table to tele in airship towns again.

16.) Nathaniel Niflheim Gears now asks for Hypnotist Staff[2] instead of Hypnotist Staff[1] to make Shadow Staff.

A Look to the Future

Our primary focus is still the expanded rework, but we are also trying hard to get the new client/palettes fixed so we can have those 4th job, classic rings, etc. all working as you would expect. In the meantime while you wait you are welcome to ask us for a refund or exchange on anything, just make a ticket. but understand that a fix is well on the way and we are very close. We won't argue with you though if you don't feel like waiting a bit more.

Beyond the new client/palette fixes we'll be FINALLY beginning the expanded rework after christmas day. So on the 26th it all begins. I've decided to start with Gunslinger/Night Watch as its the one I'm personally the most excited about. I won't reveal too much of what is going on behind the scenes during the process so you'll just have to refer to my initial plans in the document. Just know it will undergo rigorous testing and likely look different than that document in some capacity before release.

We will not release the Expanded Rework until ALL the expanded classes are done, so this will take some time. However, all the plans are there and we have a good vision already, so don't worry it shouldn't take us THAT long. Barring any major balance issues we'll be able to get through them quicker than you think. Very excited to share it all with you.
