Quality of Life Changes and Customizations
With AlfheimRO, we understand that many RO players simply do not have the time to grind out the game like they used to. Further, as players got better at the game, they began to break it to the point where it was less fun for many. Specifically, multi-clienting is a divisive topic in the community with many feeling like it is mandatory if it is not hard-restricted. However, hard restricting multi-client in our experience has not led to many more players playing together and is simply an artificial restriction. Further, it feels bad for the players who may simply enjoy going hard when they play solo. As such, we don't restrict multi-clienting.
However, that doesn't mean we can't help bridge the gap between those who are comfortable with multi-clienting and those who are not. A player who does not wish to multi-client should not feel like it is mandatory to keep up with the other players. It is impossible to fully bridge this gap as a hardcore player who is willing to go all out will always have an advantage over those who don't. However, we do attempt to bridge the gap as much as we can without breaking the game. We can't give players everything without working for it, but we have added many features with the explicit goal of making it feel less mandatory to multi-client. We expect some players to still do this, but those who choose not to shouldn't feel bad about their decision anymore.
With that bit of insight into our server vision and the reason behind our changes let's get into the actual changes themselves. Each section will have a brief explanation of the change as well as an animated example of what it looks like in game.
Increased Sitting Regen
When a player is out of combat for 5 seconds, having not been hit a mob they will enable massively increased regen. Upon sitting a player will regen 3% Max HP/SP per second. This is a fixed percentage and not a flat value so it will always take about 33 seconds to regen to full from nothing. This does NOT work while overweight, but WILL work to bypass some skill exclusive restrictions like Asura Strike's 5 minute SP cooldown lock out.
Custom Inns
On AlfheimRO, Inns are essential. Using an Inn works as normal: fully refreshing HP/SP. However, it now also gives the player max level Increase AGI/Blessing buffs for a duration of 20 minutes. Additionally all Inns have been adjusted to include a Kafra storage NPC, a Warper to WOE Castles, and a Repairman. This is so guilds can WOE out of any town they want.
Most major towns have had an Inn added if they did not have one. Below you will find a list of towns that have Inns:
1.) Prontera (East and West sides)
2.) Morocc (South and North)
3.) Geffen
4.) Alberta
5.) Izlude (custom)
6.) Aldebaran
7.) Lutie (custom)
8.) Comodo (custom)
9.) Yuno (custom)
10.) Amatsu (custom)
11.) Gonryun (custom)
12.) Louyang (custom)
13.) Ayothaya (custom)
14.) Einbroch
15.) Lighthalzen
NOTE: As content progresses forward, every major town will have these same changes. If you do not see a town listed it is because it was released after our launch. Important to note that the one town that does not have an Inn is Umbala. This was simply because there was a distinct lack of space in Umbala.
Uniform Kafra Warps and Tool Dealers
Kafras normally make you warp individually from to town with only a few immediately nearby locations available. If you want to travel from Prontera to say Umbala you will have to make multiple warps to get there. We changed this by simply calculating the cost all at once and allowing you to warp to any town a Kafra can warp you to normally. Quite simply, every Kafra can warp you to any other Kafra warp location.
Additionally, all towns have at least one major tool dealer (usually the most accessible) who sell all the major items players use.
Arrows, Iron Arrows, Silver Arrows, Fire Arrows, and Traps are now not location exclusive.
The same applies for Berserk Potions, Yggdrasil Leaf, and Blue Gemstones.
Unlocking Warps
Having a warper is not a profound idea. However, on Alfheim our warper still requires you to have visited the location you want to warp to at least once. The vast majority of warps also will not be at locations where you cannot use /memo to warp anyway. There are a few exceptions to this rule: Yggdrasil Tree, Niflheim (indoors), and Glast Heim (Stings and Majos). Important to note there are no field map warps and only Dungeon, Town, and the two special location warps. (Yggdrasil Tree, and our custom Daytime Nameless Island) The warper will always cost 1 Blue Gemstone so be sure to always have some handy!
If you would like a warp added you can make a suggestion in the discord. The rules against locations are that there will never be one on an MVP map, or within a dungeon itself with the only exceptions being Glast Heim's two locations.
Every major town has at least one warper Kafra cat ready to help out. More will likely be added into the future and if you find that you want one added in simply make a suggestion in the discord! (read the format for doing so before posting). Important to note that Kafra Cat's will never be added to Inns, but they can be added in the future to other Kafras.
Renewal Novice Grounds
The classic pre-renewal novice grounds not only force you to use stat points immediately, but they also lack in the initial resources they give you. Renewal Training Grounds are essentially the same except they don't force you use your stat points at the start. Additionally, the quests from the job NPCs can help give new players some good initial supplies/EXP for those willing to take the short time to do their quests. The amount of rewards for Free Kafra Storage and Transportation is also increased greatly as well.
One custom change is that Jinha, who usually teaches you only First Aid, now also teaches you our custom custom Tapping skill. For more information on that check out our page on custom skill changes.
Increased WOE Supply Drops
For all WOE related supplies, drops have either had an extra drop added to specific monsters and/or had the drop rate increased. This is to lessen the burden of having to grind materials to participate in WOE. With it being significantly easier and less costly this will hopefully encourage more WOE participation. Additionally it should help stimulate the economy for newer players who can easily make money by selling them to existing guilds and players.
To counter prospective inflation all of these drops have had their sell cost reduced to 1/3 of its original value where necessary. Many of the drops sell for so little it is irrelevant, but those that sold for a good amount are now nerfed.
